For many seamen there is no possibility of attending a Church Service throughout the many months at sea. Even when the ship is in port, the seamen have to carry on with their duties, often working long 12 hour shifts.
One of the more recent methods of offering encouragement to seamen has been to give out DVD's with a Church Service recorded onto it. Most of the newer, bigger ships have modern TV systems. The DVD can be put in the player, and then the seamen can watch it in their own cabin. This enables the seamen to watch the DVD at a time that is convenient for them.
